Product Overview
Meenakari is a traditional Indian art form of decorating metal surfaces with vibrant, fused powdered glass (enamel). Originating in Persia and popularized by the Mughals, Jaipur (Rajasthan) remains the global hub for these brightly colored, nature-inspired jewelry pieces, which are often paired with Kundan and Polki stones.

(1 items)Origins
Brought to India in the 16th century, the term stems from the Persian word Mina (heaven, referring to the azure blue color of enamel) and Kari (work). The Process: Intricate motifs are engraved onto metal (traditionally gold, though silver and base metals are popular for fashion jewelry). The grooves are then filled with colored mineral oxides and fired at extreme temperatures (750°C to 850°C) so the enamel melts and fuses permanently into the metal.
